Oh great.. i have a cold from the winter in China. Btw when i was there the temperature was ranging between -1 to 11. 11 was the 1st day and gradually it just got lower and lower. -1 was at night i believe because i didn't feel that bad. And thank God everyday there was sun so the temperature was higher.
Day 2 Still in Nanjing
4th Stop: Chang Jiang Da Qiao
This bridge is BIG and LONG. They call it the Zhen Qi Zhi Qiao(Bridge of Pride..own translation). Seems that years back in the communism ruling, they needed to fix the bridge and the conditions in China were bad so they seeked the help of Russia. However Russia wanted them to give authority on the country before helping. Of course China isn't stupid. So they were stuck with the bridge and nothing to help. No cement, no architects, etc. The then in charge called on the people and brought in the engineers and architects in different parts of China to come forth. Together they raised money and developed materials. Thus after several deaths and cash flow problems, they finally succeeded. So the people made a poem about it.
One, Zi Li Gen Shen (independance; not relying on others)
Two, Dual uses for vehicles and railway line
Three, Three flags on the bridge (the country and its people that contributed)
Four five, The road runs 4.5 km
Six seven, The railway runs 6.7 km
Eight, The height is 80m
Nine, There are 9 pillars holding up the whole bridge
Erm.. sorri i forgot what ten is....
5th stop: Fu zi Miao
All i remember is that this is a street and we kind of just walk around it.
6th stop: Jade Wholesale Outlet
How to know is jade's real?
1. Hit it. There should be a clear, crisp
ting. Tone may vary but need to be clear one solid sound.
2. Shine under a light. The jade should be transperant and the lines inside are clear-cut.
3. Scratch it! Scratch on a glass. The glass should be the one damaged and not the jade. The jade should be just like before.
Believe it or not! You can bargain price although it is a government run place and further the price change to Sing, a simple bangle is only $44. Goldsmiths sell at a much higher prices.
7th stop: Shouxi hu(Yangzhou)
Simple: It's a lake. haha. Okie this lake is beautiful. So beautiful that a few dramas like Huan Zhu 3 were filmed there. Looks abit like the Emperor's back garden minus the fake rock hills. Very pleasing and nice, especially when the winter flowers like chrystemun were in full bloom. But according to the guide, its looks even better in Spring! Also there is this salt pillar there. Seems that one year that Qianlong xia jiangnan, the merchants in Yangzhou wanted to impress the ruler so they stacked their salt up. This meant the Ynagzhou was full of wealth as salt was precious then. But now Yangzhou lacks behind compares to Nanjing, etc.
Then that afternoon, we headed to our first long road journey to Wuxi. By night, we were in Wuxi and had dinner then to hotel.

I'm Back! From China.. Simple Iternary.. Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Wu Zhen & Shanghai.
Hey misconcepted people they are not as far behind the mordern world k! They do have towns and cities just as packed as Malaysia's.
Okay the 7am flight isn't a nice start. Needed to get up at like 530 and my little cousins were late. Oh ya i went with bro, dad, ma, ah ma, da gu, xiao gu and my two little cousins, yang and lin. Lin is only 7 but can talk non-stop. Seems the new education system has developed more noise pollution.
All historical references below are quoted from the tour guide.

1st Stop: Zhonghua Men
After going in Nanjing for circles, ( the driver or Shifu was just down from Hebei and havn't drove in Jiangnan area yet.) We finally got here. From the airport we landed about 12 but only got here at 3. That means the trip from airport to Nanjing alone is 2 whole hours. Anyway this gate is where the Nanjing Masscare started. Firstly this gate was builit to protect a kingdom of Zhu Yuan Zhang China's first Wang Di. After his kingdom collapsed and the Jap war started, the Japs supposedly went through this gate, Nanjing's first defence. Funny is they had detered the troops to Beijing, thinking that the Japs would head there first. In the end, the Japs virtually breezed through the gates and into the city of Nanjing. That fateful day killed off half of Nanjing's 6000+ population.
2nd stop: XuHuai He
This stream was cut off the main river so to block off the "Dragon". Qin Shi Wang believed that Nanjing had a strong aura of rulers. (A lot of rulers chose Nanjing as their capital.) So tyo stop any uprising he asked this fengshui advisors who told him this would cut off the dragon's vein and stop any uprising. On both sides are those red lou like in the dramas, one side for scholars to study and sleep and the other side for, you won't believe it but prositutes! Just imagine the view from the scholar's windows.
3rd Stop: Hotel
After shopping at Xuhuai He there and the first dinner in China. btw Nanjing is famous for its Yan Su Ya.(Salted Duck) We went to the 1st hotel. Spacious and acceptedly comfortable.
Then that is day1.
Next post will continue with day2.. haha..
